Yesterday, Maren and I traveled to Whidbey Island to meet up with some of my friends from high school and their kids. Lupine was visiting from Portland with her daughter Dot, who is 2 1/2 years old, and Bina, who is about a month older than Maren. Here's Dot holding Maren.

We had a great time watching the babies interact. Tummy time!

Almost holding hands!
Found my own hand at last!
Later in the afternoon, we went to a beach and met up with Katy and her 2 year-old daughter Riley, and Kari and her daughters, along with a couple of their kids' friends. Back at Katy's house, Riley was excited to play with Maren!

I'm having a hard time getting Maren to take a nap anywhere but at home, or in the car. At Katy's house, Maren fought sleep especially hard, and she ended up staying awake with the mommies while we chatted. Kari volunteered to hold Maren to give me a break and get some baby snuggles. Maren didn't fall asleep until the ride home late last night.

Today we went to the Mom & Baby movie in Bellevue and saw "Wall-E" - very cute. Maren fussed a lot because she was trying to tell me she had a wet diaper. Unfortunately, she only fell asleep during the last 10 minutes of the movie! It's definitely hard to get out of the house with a little one, but we keep trying.
