5 Weeks Old

Maren is recovering well from surgery. She is officially 5 weeks old today and has gained almost a whole pound after her surgery! I guess she is making up for lost time now that the cyst under her tongue has been removed.

Here's a "before" picture showing the wall of tongue we were facing during her feedings.
And an "after" shot showing the incision site with stitches. The tongue heals from the inside out, but she is almost fully healed.



Joli, her mom and her son Gavin visited us last weekend. Gavin is almost 9 months old now, and getting so big! He still has gorgeous blue eyes, and shows us a preview of what life will be like for us in just a few months.

Here's a photo of Maren asleep in her bed. She likes to have her hands up by her face, as she apparently had them in the womb, so she furiously fights the blanket when she's swaddled with her arms down.

This morning, Daddy had a nice nap with Maren in our bed. Too bad she woke up just for this photo!
